“In Her Nature” Oil Paintings by Dolly Whitley

This month’s show, “In Her Nature” by Dolly Whitley, presents the viewer with 14 exquisite oil paintings, exploring the artist’s experience with trauma and her journey to healing through nature, and how nature is connected to everything.

These works feature various cropping’s of the female form with natural elements such as flowers, mushrooms, insects and branches growing out of or in place of the female features. These works express the strength, delicacy, spirit and transformation that the subjects experience as they embrace and accept the natural elements that start to inhabit them.

Dolly states that “This collection is an observation of sacred symbiosis because I found comfort in knowing all nature, including me, is connected. Nature inspires me, and makes me feel less lonely. She tells me I am good, I am cared for, I am part of things. Nature encourages curiosity and cooperation. She show me there is a place and purpose for every wild, bizarre and misunderstood creature”.

“In Her Nature” will be on display in the main gallery from August 2 through August 31. Please join us for the exbibit opening reception on Friday, August 2nd, from 5pm-9pm.
