Decorating Techniques for Pottery: A 5-Week Intensive with Kevin Rodrigue

Sundays, October 18, 2026 through November 15, 2026. 6:00pm-8:30pm. Must be 16 or older.

In this 5-week class, we’ll explore a variety of decorating techniques throughout each stage of the pottery-making process. You’ll have the opportunity to experiment with different methods and discover ways to add texture, pattern, and personal expression to your work.

Techniques explored will include texturing, faceting, stamping, carving, sgraffito, Mishima, slip trailing, underglaze transfer and screen printing. We’ll also learn how to create and use simple glazes, as well as explore low-temperature enamel glazes for adding additional color and decorative detail.

This class is designed to encourage experimentation and creativity while giving you a chance to build your decorating skills and develop your own visual style.

Prerequisite: Students should feel comfortable throwing four to six inch cylinders and should bring their favorite tools and materials. Class includes one 25 pound clay block.
