Neal Reed is a potter who enjoys making both functional and decorative works in clay. Born in Virginia, he has studied clay in Minnesota, North Carolina and Virginia. Neal’s functional works are decorated using the ancient technique of sgraffito (carving through one layer of clay to the layer beneath), and his designs are inspired by nature and by the artists that have come before him. He currently works at his studio at LibertyTown Arts Workshop in Fredericksburg, Virginia, where he also teaches.
