Kids Painting classes (Acrylic on canvas)

Thursdays and Fridays

The overall goal of Kids Painting Classes is to encourage creativity and foster enthusiasm for individual artistic expression. Participants in these painting workshops will become familiar with varying techniques through artistic practices and will develop increasingly more skills and confidence of self-expression centered around a subject.  The instructor will explain, demonstrate, and guide each student to create wonderful 2-dimentional visual images using acrylics on canvas.

Weekly workshops are scheduled on Thursday and Friday as follows:

4pm-5pm & 5:30pm-6:30pm

Other days available upon request and subject to space availability.

Cost is $35.00 per student per individual session or $120.00 per student for 4 sessions and includes all art supplies.  Each participant will take home an 8 x 10-inch canvas following each session.  We request that each participant reserve a spot at least one week in advance of the desired session in order to have the necessary supplies available.

Session 1.  Students will learn the correct technique to use a variety of ways to apply paint to canvas using paint brushes, palette knife, etc.

Session 2.  Students will learn about the elements of design based on geometric shapes.

Session 3.  Students will explore the use of color and value.

Session 4.  Students will be introduced to the concept of abstract art as a means of creative self-expression.
