Ana Brugos

It started as a way to release stress. I took a class with Neal Reed and loved it. Then I took another class, and another…. A few years ago, with the encouragement of the folks at Libertytown Arts Workshop, I started renting the little studio space and creating mugs, bowls, plates.

I like painting as well and enjoy drawing images on my pots. I used the sgraffito technique that Neal Reed uses, but eventually I discovered the Mishima technique and it gave me the ability to play more with colors and have more painterly images on the pots. I find inspiration in our surroundings, flowers from the back yard, animals from farms, our pets, the landscape. I also like to celebrate our town by drawing the skyline of Fredericksburg or the Chatham bridge.
