Amanda Carter

I love playing with color be it with fabric, wool or paint.  I learned how to quilt over twenty years ago and over the years I have completed many quilts and collected quite the fabric palette.  In my most recent quilt tops I have been using West African fabrics collected from Côte d’Ivoire/the Ivory Coast.

After becoming an empty nester I started to paint and draw.  I took semi-private classes with a wonderful artist, Monsieur Gensin during my time in West Africa.  I work primarily in oils and feature bright bold colors.  I consider my style quirky representational.  I love the texture of oil paints but also paint with acrylics.  I have recently started experimenting with watercolors and use them regularly in sketching.

I learned to knit scarves as a child with my British grandmother, Ellen Luke, but relearned again a few years ago in Germany.

I am overjoyed to have joined all the talented artists at LibertyTown and to make art in such a creative environment.
