***NEW**** Introduction to Natural Dyes-Beginner’s Dye Journal

$150.00

Saturday, July 11-August 1, 2026 1pm-4:30pm

Ages: 16+

This beginner-friendly natural dye class series is an introduction to plant-based pigments (plant and plant matter-derived) and the fundamentals of dyeing with natural materials. Over four weeks, students will learn how to select and prepare dye materials, prepare substrates for dyeing, create dye baths, dye fabrics and yarn, and document their process in a dye journal. By the end of the course, students will have completed an introductory dye journal that includes fabric and yarn samples dyed with four different plant materials, along with instructional documents covering each step of the process.

This class will be held in our outdoor Courtyard. Please note that depending on weather we may have to schedule rain dates. Students should wear apparel that can get messy, as natural dyes may stain clothing.

Students will need to purchase a mixed media sketch book  A4 (8.3″ x 11.7″) or larger.  All other materials will be supplied.

Description photos are possible class examples, and actual fabrics and dye materials will vary.

About the Instructor:
