Tiffany Yates

Tiffany Mei Yates is an illustrator, designer and crafter.  Her influence run the gamut: Fantasy books, sci-fi movies, comics of all shapes and sizes, and various science, technology, medical and political articles on Wikipedia and the internet. Tiffany grew up surrounded by art, attending and helping at art shows and spending many days after school in her mother’s studio, watching her make Chinese brush paintings. It was her mother that persuaded her to apply for VCU’s School of Arts. Four years later, she graduated with a BFA in Communication Arts and BS in Psychology. Hired right out of school, Tiffany became a Graphic Art Instructor at Germanna Community college as well as the neighborhood’s friendly Gallery assistant at Libertytown Arts Workshop. Five years later, Tiffany switched gears and began to work in the Public Health Services while focusing all of her creative energies on developing several personal series. Absurdity is a reoccurring theme depicted in her work that swings between humorous and eerie.  Tiffany views her art making as compulsive, inevitable as a form of communication.  Art is a necessary function to root oneself in the present and save kernels of truths for the future. Studio 23 in Libertytown Arts Workshop is also where her drawings, sculptures and paintings can be found.

Tiffany offers 1 hour private drawing lessons on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12pm-1pm, 1:15pm-2:15pm, 2:30pm-3:30pm, 3:45pm-4:45pm, & 5pm-6pm.  She also offers virtual drawing classes on Monday thru Thursday from 11am-12pm.  Prior registration is required by emailing Tiffany at smile@tyates.net or calling 540-220-8252.
