All Day Summer Camp Ages 6-9, Week 2: July 22-26, 2019
Welcome to LibertyTown Summer Camps!
Our all-day camps run from 9am to 5 pm and include a 1 hr. break from 12:30-1:30 for lunch and two 30-minute breaks at 10:30 am and 3:00 pm. Each hour and a half class will explore another facet and medium of art, including painting, drawing, clay, polymer clay, fiber and art history.
Parents are asked to pack a lunch and snacks (we have a refrigerator on site) for their kids. No peanuts please. Some parents have requested to bring snacks for the whole class. Please let us know if you would like to do this and we will make sure to let everyone know they have a “snack break” on that day.
On Friday of each week we will have a CAMP PARTY from 5:00-6:00pm. Refreshments will be served, and parents and siblings are welcome too!!
Full descriptions of the Class Periods are below!
Summer Camptastic 2019 for 6 to 9 year olds
Week 2, July 22-26th:
Period 1: Drawing and Painting with Tiffany Yates 9-10:30am M-F $115
Join the fantastically talented Tiffany Yates for a week of drawing and painting with acrylics. Students will work on drawing skills and painting techniques including perspective, shading, different drawing utensils, breaking down animals and people into shapes, color blending, and more. More advanced students are welcome! We can work with all skill levels and sets to challenges to help them grow.
Period 2: Polymer Clay and Paper Mache! 11am-12:30pm M-F $115
A first for us! We are introducing the younger kids to the super fun and super satisfying world of polymer clay. Polymer clay can be rolled, pinched and sculpted into lovely objects. Previous projects included pins, animal sculptures, and planters! Later in the week, we will be sculpting paper mache creatures of their own design, and decorating them on Friday!
Period 3: Clay Creature feature with Kari Phillips! 1:30-3pm M-F $115
This week of clay is all about creatures…those that fly, swim, creep, crawl and run! Each day we will learn about a different group of animals and how they move and make a sculpture to explore them. Kids will be able to choose their favorites from each animal grouping so there is lots of choice and agency!
Period 4: Craft Spectacular with Crystal Rodrigue 3:30-5pm M-F $115
Join multi-talented local artist Crystal Rodrigue for a week of crafting. But this is not your pre-school’s craft class. These crafts will be beautiful art objects that you can keep and use! Crafts completed in the past include fiber lamps, faux stained glass, handmade bowls, planters and much more. Emphasis will be on recycled objects when possible.
