All Day Summer Camp Ages 10-15, Weeks 1 & 2
All Day summer camps run from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
All-day sign ups include a 1 hr. break from 12:30-1:30 for lunch and two 30-minute breaks at 10:30 am and 3:00 pm. Parents are asked to pack a lunch and snacks (we have a refrigerator on site) for their kids. On Friday of each week we will have a CAMP PARTY from 5:00-6:00pm. Refreshments will be served, and parents and siblings are welcome too!!
This year Students will learn about knitting, paper making and manipulation, pottery (wheel and hand building), drawing and painting, polymer clay and fused glass! Full description of each class period is below!
Summer Camptastic 2018 For 10 to 15 year olds!
Week 1: July 9-13th| Week 2: July 23-27th
Weeks 1 and 2:
Period 1: Knitting and Paper Making! 9-10:30am M-F
Join instructors Fran Slaterbeck and Elizabeth Seaver for a week of knitting and papermaking and manipulation
- Monday and Tuesday: Elizabeth Seaver will help students make their own paper from wood and animal fibers. They will use this material to make beautiful handmade products such as bowls and journals.
- Wednesday-Friday: Fran Slaterbeck will guide kids through the basics of knitting and creation of a knit object to have and keep. Knitting is the new stress reliever, just ask the Norwegian Ski Team!
Period 2: Introduction to Wheel-Throwing and Hand Building! 11am-12:30pm M-F
Join instructor Lawton Clites in this fun-filled class all about clay! Students will start off learning about hand building and finish off the week on the potter’s wheel. Weather permitting, we will finish up Friday with a smoke firing of some of the week’s pots!! Cost includes all supplies, tools, paints, glazes, and firings needed! Estimate 5 objects to be taken home and loved forever!
Period 3: Sketching, Drawing, and Painting with Miranda Reichhardt 1:30-3pm M-F
Join Instructor Miranda Reichhardt for a week of sketching, drawing, and painting. Miranda will walk students through the fundamentals of sketching in a class-provided sketchbook. Students will learn figure and face drawing, as well as proper acrylic painting technics. All supplies provided. All skill levels welcome.
Period 4: Polymer Clay and Glass Art 3:30-5pm M-F
All week long, students will work with polymer clay and glass to create wonderful objects to keep for all time. Award winning polymer clay artist Melissa Terlizzi will help students make sculptural pieces. Previous projects have included fish, toads, and flowers. Glass artist Gayla Lee, who regularly teaches at the Corning Glass Museum in New York, will teach kids the basics of glass cutting, fusion, and firing. Previous projects have included bowls, coasters, sun catchers, jewelry, and more! Higher cost of class due to higher supply cost.
