All Day Summer Camp Ages 10-15, Week 2: July 22-26, 2019
All Day summer camps run from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
All-day sign ups include a 1 hr. break from 12:30-1:30 for lunch and two 30-minute breaks at 10:30 am and 3:00 pm. Parents are asked to pack a lunch and snacks (we have a refrigerator on site) for their kids. On Friday of each week we will have a CAMP PARTY from 5:00-6:00pm. Refreshments will be served, and parents and siblings are welcome too!!
This year Students will learn about knitting, paper making and manipulation, pottery (wheel and hand building), drawing and painting, fiber crafts, book binding and fused glass! Full description of each class period is below!
Summer Camptastic 2019 For 10 to 15 year olds!
Week 2, July 22nd- 26th:
Period 1: Book Making and Knitting! 9-10:30am M-F $115
Join instructors Elizabeth Seaver and Fran Slaterbeck for a week of fiber work and book making!!
- Monday & Tuesday: Elizabeth will guide students through the creation of handmade sketchbook/journal. They will design the covers and learn how to bind the spines together.
- Wednesday-Friday: Fran Slaterbeck will guide kids through the basics of knitting and creation of a knit object to have and keep.
Period 2: Pottery and Surface Decorations11am-12:30pm M-F $115
Build off of your skills from the first week or start fresh with us this week! We will start out on the wheel and make some simple pots. We will then learn all sorts of ways to decorate the surface of the pots including slips, carving and wax resists! Cost includes all supplies, tools, paints, glazes, and firings needed! Estimate 5 objects to be taken home and loved forever!
Period 3: Urban and Nature Sketching with Miranda Reichhardt 1:30-3pm M-F $115
Our instructor will teach basic, intermediate, and advanced drawing skills focusing on figure drawing of human forms and faces. Students will also learn the art of fast sketching, urban sketching, and urban sketching tools. Students will leave the building during this class to visit sights within walking distance of the studio, weather permitting. All supplies included.
Period 4: Glass Art 2.0 3:30-5pm M-F $135
Build off of week one, or start fresh with us this week! All week long, students will work with glass to create wonderful objects to keep for all time. Glass artist Gayla Lee, who regularly teaches at the Corning Glass Museum in New York, will teach kids the basics of glass cutting, fusion, and firing. The students will also work on a public art project during class this year! Repeat student welcome: we build on skills! Higher cost of class due to higher supply cost.
