All Day Summer Camp Ages 10-15, Week 1: July 8-12, 2019
All Day summer camps run from 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
All-day sign ups include a 1 hr. break from 12:30-1:30 for lunch and two 30-minute breaks at 10:30 am and 3:00 pm. Parents are asked to pack a lunch and snacks (we have a refrigerator on site) for their kids. On Friday of each week we will have a CAMP PARTY from 5:00-6:00pm. Refreshments will be served, and parents and siblings are welcome too!!
This year Students will learn about knitting, stamp carving and application of stamps on fabric and paper, pottery (wheel and hand building), drawing and painting, and fused glass! Full description of each class period is below!
Summer Camptastic 2019 For 10 to 15 year olds!
Week 1, July 8-12th:
Period 1: Knitting and Print Making 9-10:30am M-F $115
Join instructors Fran Slaterbeck and Elizabeth Seaver for a week of knitting and stamp carving and print making!
- Monday and Tuesday: Elizabeth Seaver will help students carve their own block stamps to be used to print cards, material and other items!
- Wednesday-Friday: Fran Slaterbeck will guide kids through the basics of knitting and creation of a knit object to have and keep.
Period 2: Wheel-Throwing and Hand Building! 11am-12:30pm M-F $115
Join instructor Lawton Clites in this fun-filled class all about clay! Students will start off learning about hand building and finish off the week on the potter’s wheel. Weather permitting, we will finish up Friday with a smoke firing of some of the week’s pots!! Cost includes all supplies, tools, paints, glazes, and firings needed! Estimate 5 objects to be taken home and loved forever!
Period 3: Sketching, Drawing, and Painting with Miranda Reichhardt 1:30-3pm M-F $115
Join Instructor Miranda Reichhardt for a week of sketching, drawing, and painting. Miranda will walk students through the fundamentals of sketching in a class-provided sketchbook. Students will learn figure and face drawing, as well as proper acrylic painting technics. All supplies provided. All skill levels welcome.
Period 4: Glass Art 1.0 3:30-5pm M-F $135
All week long, students will work with glass to create wonderful objects to keep for all time. Glass artist Gayla Lee, who regularly teaches at the Corning Glass Museum in New York, will teach kids the basics of glass cutting, fusion, and firing. The students will also work on a public art project during class this year! Repeat student welcome: we build on skills! Higher cost of class due to higher supply cost.
